About the Artist
I’m Lindsay Hook, the (very human) artist behind the brand working from my home studio in Northern California. I'm a Libra with a love for creature comforts, symmetry, and witty conversation. I love creating products inspired by nature, fantasy, folklore, and cozy magic. And I do, in fact, dream of one day haunting a cliffside with a cloak and lantern.
In my work, I often create illustrations intuitively and with symbolic imagery to set intentions for the recipient of the art. I also honor nature’s cycles in my work, and look to it for inspiration.
The name Lantern Print Co., and more specifically, the lantern symbol— was selected to represent my desire to create art that is full of beauty, hope, mystery, and adventure. A reminder that light can shine in the darkest of places.
Most of my work is created digitally in Procreate, a process that begins with a rough sketch and slowly builds through layers of color and texture. Using custom brushes that mimic traditional media like gouache, colored pencil, and ink, I strive to create pieces that feel warm, tactile, and enchanting.
Also as a neurodivergent artist, I believe in inclusivity, diverse representation, and creating a safe space for everyone. My goal is to keep these in mind as I create art and continue to build my business.
